Asanoha

Literally, hemp leaves. So it represents this resistant plant, which grows straight and fast. And thus symbolizes good growth, vigour, resistance (by extension, an omen of prosperity) and therefore was used in the clothing of babies and children. This motif became popular in the Edo period, but is said to have older origins.
