Japanese Noren polyester curtain, RYU
A noren is a short curtain of slit fabric that is hung on the front door of shops, restaurants or houses in Japan. It usually wears the family monogram or serves as a trader's ensign and is a symbol of respectability.
Over the years, the Noren has evolved and discovered new functions and appearances. Modern decorators hang them as a divider between rooms or as hanging wall decorations. Traditional Japanese Noren are easily installed using curtain rods with hanging brackets or simple curtain rods, thin bamboo poles or long wooden dowels from a hardware store; they are usually sewn with loops or a large hollow hem to pass a rod.
